Bernie has over 20 years of experience in small business start-ups, education and training, and international business development. He has a first degree in Economics from the University of Liverpool and an MBA from Durham University, and has worked in marketing, publishing and the University sector.

Previously Bernie was the CEO of  the Leighton Group, one of the North East’s most successful digital businesses.  Bernie’s role included managing the strategic development of a portfolio of companies and new product ideas, and the successful commercialisation of the resultant Intellectual Property Rights.
